Gun Loaded With Hollow Point Bullets Found In Car: Bloomingdale Police

Police said they also found signs of drug use and a gravity knife in the car.

BLOOMINGDALE, NJ— Four men were arrested after Bloomingdale police say they found two guns, including one loaded with hollow-point bullets, during a traffic stop.

Police stopped a car on Union Ave on Tuesday night after it was seen swerving in and out of its travel lane. After seeing signs of drug use, police searched the car, and said they found two handguns, a semi-automatic 9 mm with hollow point ammunition and a .38 caliber revolver loaded with non-hollow point bullets.

One of the handguns was listed as stolen, police said.

In addition, Luis Marte DeJesus, 20, of Philadelphia, was found to have a "gravity knife," which is a knife that can be opened with a flick of the wrist, small amounts of marijuana and paraphernalia, police said.

Because police could not determine who owned the guns, all four passengers were charged and arrested. Deivy Ortiz-Laureano, 35, Jose Reyes-Crisostomo, 21, and Marte DeJesus, all of Philadelphia, and Yoel Maldonado-Nunez, 24, of Bloomingdale, were charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of hollow point ammunition and possession of stolen property.

Marte DeJesus was also charged with an additional charge of unlawful possession of a weapon for the knife and possession of a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia.

The driver, Ortiz-Laureano, was also charged with motor vehicle summonses for failing to keep right, operating with a suspended license and for failing to supply a vehicle registration and insurance.

Because of a previous drug conviction, Maldonaldo-Nunez was charged with two counts of not being allowed to possess weapons.

All four were taken to the Passaic County Jail.
