Charges Filed in Crash That Seriously Hurt Woman
23-year-old was extricated from vehicle and airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A 26-year-old Hewitt man was charged with careless driving and disregard of a traffic signal after he allegedly crashed into a 1997 Camry crossing Morse Avenue in Butler on to Route 23 South Tuesday. The female driver of the other vehicle was airlifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson with life-threatening injuries, said.

The man, Robert McIntosh, was also charged with failure to exhibit a valid insurance document.

Police arrived on the scene immediately after the call came in at 11:10 a.m. and said McIntosh was driving a 2008 Ford F-350 on Route 23 South and allegedly failed to yield to a red traffic signal. The vehicle impacted the 1997 Toyota Camry a 23-year-old female driver, whose name was not released until next of kin were notified, was operating, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office. Police said the female had to be extricated from the vehicle and that when she arrived at the hospital, she was listed in serious condition.
Traffic lanes on Route 23 were closed for about three hours while police from the Butler, and Riverdale Police Departments, as well as representatives of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, investigated the incident. also responded to the scene.
