Multiple Drunk Driving Arrests In Bloomingdale

BLOOMINGDALE, NJ — Between Dec. 15 and Dec. 21, Bloomingdale police made multiple drunk driving arrests. Read about those arrests here, as written by police:

On 12/15/17 at 00:27 hours, Ptl. Vincent Graziosa stopped a motor vehicle on Main Street. In speaking with the driver, Scott Kelly (52) of Kinnelon, Ptl. Graziosa observed signs of intoxication. After performing several standardized field sobriety tests, Kelly was arrested and transported to headquarters. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, failing to inspect his vehicle and several additional motor vehicle violations. He was released into the custody of a friend pending his court date. His vehicle was impounded. Ptl. Michael Fatzer and Ptl. Sami Zeidan assisted with the arrest.

Also on 12/15/17 at 19:26 hours, Ptl. Sami Zeidan and S.O. Paul Pampinella were assisting with a emergency road work traffic detail when a black Chrysler disobeyed S.O. Pampinella's direction and nearly had an accident with another vehicle. Ptl. Zeidan was able to stop the vehicle and in speaking to the driver, William Barrantes-Leon (27) of Paterson, Ptl. Zeidan observed signs of intoxication. After several standardized field sobriety tests, Barrantes-Leon was arrested and transported to headquarters for processing. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driver, failure to comply with the direction of an officer, and no insurance. He was released to the custody of friend pending his court date. His vehicle was impounded. In addition to S.O. Pampinella, Ptl. Gary Walker assisted with the arrest.

On 12/16/17 at 12:47 hours, Ptl. Antonio Calabro observed a vehicle moving at a high rate of speed on Hamburg Turnpike. He was able to stop the vehicle on Main Street and in speaking to the driver, Joann Saravia (31) of Bloomingdale, Ptl. Calabro observed signs of use of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (C.D.S.) and a search yielded an e-cigarette with suspected THC oil. Saravia was arrested and transported to headquarters for processing where she was charged with possession of C.D.S., possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of C.D.S. in a motor vehicle and for speeding. She was released pending her court date. Ptl. Conrad Jimenez assisted with the arrest.

On 12/21/17 at 10:30 hours, Ptl. Antonio Calabro stopped a motor vehicle in Riverside Square. In speaking to the driver, Ihor Marchuk (20) of Brooklyn, Ptl. Calabro learned that Marchuk had several outstanding warrants for his arrest out of Bloomfield and West Windsor. Marchuk was arrested and transported to headquarters for processing. He was able to post bail and was released pending his court dates. He also received several motor vehicle summonses from Ptl. Calabro including for having a suspended driver's license. Sgt. David Terpstra assisted with the arrest.
