Residents' Complaints Squash Kinnelon Occupancy Ordinance
Residents questioned officials at meeting last week.

An ordinance that would have required Kinnelon homeowners to obtain a continued certificate of occupancy (CCO) before they sell their homes will never see the light of day.
The proposed ordinance is “dead on arrival” after residents spoke out against it at a special meeting Oct. 3, NorthJersey.com reported. The Borough Council’s Ordinance Committee hosted the meeting.
Residents argued that they wondered why officials would make it a requirement for homeowners to obtain a CCO before they sell their homes, and spend money to get it, only to have the new homeowner tear the residence down.
