Traditional Okinawan Karate: A Visit from a Teacher's Teacher

Over the the Weekend, Traditional Okinawan Karate had a special guest.  Mr. Levitz, Mr. Miller's teacher taught a full day seminar. Students from four Dojos were in attendance to participate.  Students from The New Paltz Karate Dojo, Traditional Okinawan Karate of Kinnelon, Brooklyn and Pleasant Valley Participated.

The morning focused on Seisan Karta (form),  proper form, Bunkai (Application) and  Kata archaeology.  In other words,  what is the kata trying to teach the student.  Also discussed at the seminar was how other styles of Martial Arts do Seisan.  Mr. Levitz discussed similarities and differences.

In the afternoon session, Mr. Levitz taught a seminar about application of joint techniques.  This was and incredibly fun (and painful) seminar filled with smiles and loud taping noises.
