Wall Officially Hired As New Butler High Principal

Wall to replace retiring principal William Hanisch.

After being selected by the for the last week, Martin Wall's hire as the new principal was approved by the board at Monday's regular meeting.

Wall, who will replace retiring principal , will fill the position, effective July 22 at a salary of $136, 717, contingent upon contract negotiations.

Wall will be leaving Montville Township High School where he worked for the past 18 years, including most recently as vice principal.

During Monday's meeting, Superintendent Mario Cardinale said the district began with 60 candidates and there are "big shoes to fill." Those 60 were narrowed down to a group of 18 candidates and then later to just three. 

"That group went through a grueling interview process," Cardinale said.

Cardinale, who worked with Wall when he, himself, served as Montville Township High School's principal in 1993, welcomed Wall to the district again and said they were pleased to have him.

"You can't believe how happy I am to be here," Wall said.

Wall described his bittersweet emotions in taking down photos this week in his office in Montville, but said, "I'm really excited" about coming to Butler.
