Alleged Campaigning on Township Property Draws Harsh Reaction From Candidates

The seven Verona Township candidates reacted harshly to allegations that a township employee distributed campaign materials from a township fire house.

 

Verona's council candidates said they are disappointed after a township employee allegedly distributed campaign cards at a township firehouse, according to a recent report.

The campaign maters urged redsients to vote for candidates Jay Sniatkowski, Rich Williamson and Bob Manley, although each candidate denied any involvement, according to the Verona-Cedar Grove Times.

Verona's former mayor, Robert Detore, said that the person who has the most to gain from the three listed candidates winning is Township Manager Joseph Martin, although Martin told the website he does not get involved in township elections.

According to the article, donating or asking for campaign contributions on public property is illegal, however there is no law against campaigning.
