• Protesters Will Rally In Verona For ‘Workers Over Billionaires’ On May Day (patch.com) — Verona residents are being urged to join a May Day “Workers Over Billionaires” rally at Bloomfield and Lakeside avenues on Friday, May 1, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. The protest is part of a nationwide movement pushing a Real Affordability Agenda, including higher wages, stronger unions, and expanded social programs, with organizers encouraging people to skip work and shopping that day.    

• Verona holds on for one-goal win over Columbia (nj.com subscription) — Verona High School’s girls lacrosse team edged Columbia 13-12 in a tight road win in Maplewood, powered by standout performances from Sam Venner, Michaela Zimany, and Sophia Simon. Verona built a big early lead, then held off Columbia’s furious fourth-quarter comeback behind strong defense, ground-ball work, and nine saves from goalie Caitlin Chevalier.
