Verona Will Host Fireworks, America 250 Celebration: What To Know

VERONA, NJ —The Township of Verona is kicking off a series of family-friendly and educational programs commemorating America's 250th anniversary with its annual Independence Day celebration on Wednesday at Liberty Field.

The event, which serves as the centerpiece of Verona's broader America 250 celebration, will feature activities inspired by 1776, including a Betsy Ross portrayer leading a flag-making activity, a town crier reenactor, live music by a traditional fife and drum band, raffles, dancing and other family-friendly entertainment.

Gates open at 7 p.m., with the fireworks display scheduled to begin at dark, approximately 9 p.m. Residents with sensory sensitivities are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the activities before the fireworks begin.

"This year, we commemorate a defining milestone in the history of the American republic and recognize Verona's place in that amazing story," Mayor Christopher Tamburro said. "I encourage all residents to take part in the many festivities and educational opportunities as we reflect on the enduring promise of our nation that was eloquently communicated in our Declaration of Independence 250 years ago."

Officials remind attendees that parking at Liberty Field is limited and encourage residents to plan accordingly.
