CEDAR GROVE, NJ — Cedar Grove's school board meeting has come and gone, but residents who missed it can still catch up online.

The Board of Education met Tuesday, August 25, at Cedar Grove High School, as scheduled in a district notice. A 38-minute recording of the meeting is now available through the district's YouTube channel.

With the meeting behind them, residents now face the district's $62.2 million bond referendum on Tuesday, September 15.

The first proposal would restore roofs at all four operating schools, upgrade air conditioning at North End and South End elementary schools, replace HVAC systems at Cedar Grove High School and Memorial Middle School, and renovate high school science classrooms. The second would reopen the former Leonard R. Parks School with upgraded classrooms, renovated art and music rooms, an ADA-accessible elevator, and improvements to security, fire-alarm and other building systems.

The district says the $62.2 million plan would receive $24.9 million in state aid, leaving $37.3 million to be funded locally. For a home assessed at the township average of $776,900, approving both proposals would produce an estimated average tax increase of about $53 per month, or $636 annually.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
