Bill and Sharon Brown Receive Nelson Mandela Freedom Award

Verona residents honored for volunteerism at benefit for Greater Newark Conservancy.

Bill and Sharon Brown of Verona were honored with the Nelson Mandela Freedom Award at Greater Newark Conservancy’s “Making Our City Bloom Gala” at Nanina’s in the Park in Belleville.

The award was presented by the Conservancy’s Executive Director, Robin Dougherty, and Artist in Residence, Jerry Gant.

Greater Newark Conservancy promotes environmental stewardship to improve the quality of life in New Jersey’s urban communities through inter-related program areas including Environmental Education, Community Greening & Urban Agriculture, Environmental Justice, and Job Training.
