Starting a Business WIthout Fear, OKAY maybe some Fear
Chasing a dream in Suburban Essex County
Since I was a little kid I have always wanted to start my own business. I remember in 1st grade the teacher sent a note home to my parents because I was selling smurf stickers to my classmates. My parents didn't get upset. To this day I wonder if they didn't get upset b/c I made a profit or was it b/c they knew that God blessed me with the skills of a business man? I grew up in Jersey City to blue collar parents who set the foundation for me but really couldn't afford to pay for my college years. I worked full time my senior year in high school and throughout college. Fortunately, I had a decent job and I was able to pay for my own school. Working full time and graduating in 5 years without any debt is still among one of my biggest accomplishments to date. I believe hard work ALWAYS pays off. You don't always see the fruits of your labor right away but at the right time hard work is rewarded.
My wife was notified that her company was going to shut down their NJ operations last June. We had found out the month prior that we were expecting our 2nd baby and she had just gotten back to the office from a great family vacation when she was given "the news". Talk about a rollercoaster ride. I remember getting her phone call while I was out at lunch and could tell in her voice as soon as I picked up that something was wrong. She proceeded to tell me that she would be losing her job along with 100s of others at that site. I was always a worry wart but my response to her call was so faith filled I still can't believe I was so calm and optimistic. Looking back at that day and my response leads me to think that this journey my wife and I have taken to start a business is just the beginning of something great.
While we are in the infancy stages of starting this business we have already put our hearts into it and countless hours to researching, analyzing, documenting, and honestly praying to get off to a successful start. We plan on serving the Essex County community in the near future. We plan on having our lease signed within the next 2 weeks at which point I will follow up with another blog introducing you to our business and revealing more of our journey/dream!
