Still Moving Forward

Cleared to walk, cleared to drive, and still pushing forward.

It has been awhile since I last wrote, but missing a week of college work has made for a busy last couple of days. It was great to get back to school and get back to the college routine. I am now walking with the brace locked without crutches (I hope I never have to use those things again). I was cleared to drive and even drove to and from school this past week. Having a car at school made my life so much easier this past week. I was able to drive to my classes and the gym which limited my walking and encouraged me to get my stretching and biking in.

I am now biking with no resistance for 10+ minutes at a time. It feels great to move and I feel like I am accomplishing something physically. It is definitely tough mentally to get to the gym and bike because I know I will be sore after, but I keep reminding myself how it will all be worth it in the end.

Watching my buddies play basketball without me is tough. Some of them are taking advantage of the situation and trash talking with the "Oh Steve I would crush you 1 on 1 right now." I just brush it off because in 6 months I'll remind them who is still the best in the house.

I have been asked by a lot of my friends if I will play basketball again after the injury. My injury has actually scared some of the guys from playing basketball as hard as they used to. I tell them that my goal is to get back to playing. I will be satisfied when I can lace them up and play for 2-3 hours a day again. Mentally, I'm ready to get back out there. It's just the whole not being able to run, cut, and jump that's keeping me sidelined!

I appreciate all the support and I'll try to write a blog post a week.

Keep moving forward. Challenge yourself.
