Brookdale Students to Walk to School with a Jackal

Brookdale Avenue School will be having its annual Walk to School Day on Wednesday, Oct. 5, prior to school commencement. This year, students will be joined by Jack the Jackal, the official mascot of the New Jersey Jackals baseball team and a local personality. 

Mr. Rampolla, the school’s principal, will join Jack at the corner of Brookdale Avenue and Sunset Avenue, where the groups of walking students will convene prior to walking  to their school together at 8:20 a.m. Mr. Rampolla will greet Jack, students and parents and welcome them to Walk to School Day.

Walk to School Day is intended to promote student awareness of the many benefits of walking over driving to school. This includes health as well as lower vehicle use, resulting in lower emissions released into the local environment. Currently, many Brookdale Avenue School students walk to school each day, however, most are driven and dropped off in front of the school.

Brookdale Avenue School is located at 14 Brookdale Court, in Verona. Walk to School Day will begin at the corner of Brookdale Avenue and Sunset Avenue at 8:10 a.m. and will culminate in front of Brookdale Avenue School at 8:25 a.m. at which point the students will begin their regular classes.
