
Editor’s Note: The following incidents are reprinted directly from the Cedar Grove police blotter, a listing of selected incidents that may not include the full scope of activity in the area. All of the following incidents are accusations, and all suspects should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
On Monday, September 7 at 7:34 p.m., Ptl. Jason Rivers initiated a motor vehicle stop for an observed violation. A subsequent investigation revealed the vehicle was unregistered and the operator’s NJ driving privileges were under suspension. The 35 year-old operator, James D. Furler of Bloomfield, was arrested on the charges, processed at police headquarters and released pending court appearance.

On Tuesday, September 8, at 7:20 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Heck initiated a motor vehicle stop for an observed violation. A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of the 35 year-old operator, Bijorte Auguste of East Orange, on an outstanding traffic warrant issued by the East Orange Court. Auguste was processed at police headquarters and released after posting the required bail.
On Sunday, September 13, a resident of the Cedar Grove Garden Apartments on Pompton Avenue reported an attempted burglary to his apartment. The victim reported sometime during the past week, some unknown person tampered with the front door locks in an attempt to make entry. No entry was made to the apartment and nothing was reported as missing.
