The Cedar Grove Chamber of Commerce will hold its raffle drawing on Tuesday, May 21, in which residents can win up to $10,000.

The Chamber is selling raffle tickets for all graduating seniors in Cedar Grove no matter what school they attend,” said Chamber of Commerce President Al Rosen of Treasure's Unlimited Jewelers.

200 tickets will be sold at $100 apiece with $10,000 going to the raffle drawing winner and the remaining $10,000 going towards scholarships.

Graduating Seniors are encouraged to apply for a scholarship by logging onto the Cedar Grove Chamber of Commerce website and filling out the required form. Students must also send in a high school transcript, a resume, two letters of recommendation and a 350 word essay.

Five students will be chosen to receive a scholarship of $2,000 for arts, academics, business, media or vocational education.

“This is to help out the kids and the chamber is funding it to entice people to shop locally,” said Rosen. “It's our way of enticing parents to understand that they should spend money in Cedar Grove because we are giving the money back to them.”

This is the second year the chamber is holding the raffle and Rosen says he thinks next year's will be even bigger.

“Last year was a gigantic success and all the tickets were sold in a matter of weeks,” he said. “It's a quick sell because its a chance to win money and pick up five great kids.”
