Cedar Grove Cops Arrest Driver For Alleged DWI Crash

Cedar Grove police arrested a 19-year-old North Cape May motorist after he allegedly crossed a centerline and collided with another car.

Cedar Grove, NJ – Cedar Grove police arrested a 19-year-old North Cape May motorist after he allegedly crossed a centerline and collided with another vehicle while intoxicated, authorities said.

According to the Cedar Grove Police Department, the incident took place on Mountain Avenue around 3 a.m. on Jan. 19.

After conducting an investigation, responding officers determined that Michael C. Dunlap was travelling south on Mountain Avenue in his 2001 Cadillac, when his vehicle allegedly crossed over the centerline and collided with a 2007 Nissan Altima.

A 19-year-old passenger in the Altima suffered a non-life-threatening chest injury in the collision, police said.

While speaking to the drivers, officers allegedly noticed the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Dunlap’s breath along with additional “signs of impairment.”

Officers reportedly conducted field sobriety tests on Dunlop; he was subsequently arrested and transported to police headquarters.

Authorities charged Dunlop with assault by auto and driving while intoxicated, and released him pending a Superior Court arraignment in Newark on Feb. 4.
