Cedar Grove Cops Find Gun, Marijuana During Traffic Stop On 4/20

Cedar Grove police arrested a Garfield man after finding marijuana, a gun and cash in a car during a traffic stop on April 20.

CEDAR GROVE, NJ — Cedar Grove police arrested a Garfield man after finding marijuana, a gun and cash in a car during a traffic stop on April 20, authorities said.

According to the Cedar Grove Police Department, an officer pulled over a vehicle around 1:41 p.m. While speaking with the driver – who wasn’t named in an initial police statement – the officer allegedly smelled marijuana coming from the car and its occupants.

During a search of the car, the officer found 24 grams of marijuana packaged for distribution, multiple boxes of THC oil cartridges, a scale and cash. The officer also found a loaded Hi-Point .380 automatic handgun in the glove box

Police arrested the passenger, Omar Manzano, 21, of Garfield. He was charged with certain persons not to have weapons, possession of a handgun without a permit, possession of a weapon while committing a narcotics crime, and possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance.

Police charged the driver with multiple motor vehicle offenses, authorities said.

In addition, the vehicle was found to be unregistered and uninsured. It was subsequently impounded, police stated.
