Cedar Grove Cops Investigate Car Theft, Break-Ins

Cedar Grove police said the incidents took place on Glen Rock Road and Oakwood Court.

CEDAR GROVE, NJ — Cedar Grove police are investigating reports of cars being rummaged through and a motor vehicle theft during the early morning hours on Tuesday in the Reservoir Ridge section of town, police said.

According to the Cedar Grove Police Department, the stolen vehicle, a 2002 Honda, was taken from a Glen Rock Road driveway. It’s believed the valet key was in the glove box, police said.

In addition, multiple vehicles were entered and rummaged through in at least eight driveways on Glen Rock Road and Oakwood Court, authorities said. Known to be missing at this time is loose change and a GPS device.

“After reviewing currently available surveillance equipment in the area, it appears the incidents may have occurred around 2:30 a.m.,” police stated in a news release.

“In an effort to reduce opportunity for these types of incidents, we are asking residents to remove all type of keys and key fobs and to lock and alarm vehicles, in addition to securing all valuables,” police stated. “In addition, please consider leaving outside lights on at night and parking your vehicles in a garage when possible. We asking residents to be alert to and report any suspicious activity - such as unknown people walking around late at night, car alarms, or unknown vehicles driving in the area - as it occurs.”
