Cedar Grove Cops Issue Car Theft Alert

Two vehicles were stolen from driveways in Cedar Grove, police say. Read their advice here.

The Cedar Grove Police Department issued the following advisory at 1:52 p.m. on Monday:

"In response to two motor vehicles stolen from driveways this past week, we are asking residents for increased vigilance. Please be alert for any unusual sights or sounds during the overnight hours and please be sure to lock and alarm your vehicles. Keys and key fobs should never be left in vehicles and all valuables should be removed from sight in the vehicle."

"The first theft occurred sometime during the overnight, Thursday into Friday morning and the second last night into this morning. We recovered the first vehicle in Newark on Friday morning with the help of a GPS device installed in the car. The second vehicle has not yet been recovered. Please assist us in reducing opportunity by locking your cars and securing your keys. Please immediately report all suspicious activity."
