Cedar Grove Council Cancels Adult Pool Night
The council also discussed a new ball field during a work session Monday night.

The Cedar Grove Council canceled adult pool night at the town pool during a Monday night work session that also saw discussions on a new ball field, a new curbing project, and Open Space funds.
The vote on adult pool night was brought up by Tom Tucci, township manager.
The recreation advisory board and the recreation director asked the council to eliminate adult pool night due to diminished use during the past summer, said Tucci and Deputy Mayor Joseph Chiusolo.

"It becomes a problem," said Chiusolo. "The pool has become an entertainment center in the summer. As days got hotter, 300 people would be asked to leave because two or three adults show up."
"It doesn't seem fair to me," said Mayor John Zunic.

The recreation department provided numbers showing a big drop off in the popularity of adult pool night, but Councilman Robert O'Toole said he didn't think there was enough information to cancel it.
The vote went down three to two with O'Toole and Councilman E. Romeo Longo voting against cancellation.
The council also discussed the following during the work session in case you missed it:
*The council discussed the possibility of purchasing two new police vehicles in the future.
*A wooded lot on Fairview Avenue and Route 23 was in discussion. The council raised the topic of converting it into Open Space. The owner has indicated that three homes may be constructed on the lot because it's in a residential zone.
*A new multipurpose ball field will be constructed at Panther Park, Tucci said. The town is seeking engineering services for the park, which will have soccer and possibly lacrosse and track.
*A new street curbing project will commence soon on various township streets, Tucci said.
