Cedar Grove High School Students Honored for Musical Achievements
Take home state, national musical honors.
Several Cedar Grove High School students recently participated in the prestigious New Jersey All State Choir Concert in Atlantic City on Nov. 11 and at NJPAC on Nov. 20 under the direction of Dr. David Fryling of Hostra University: Davis Lemley, Darrah Maffettone, Gabrielle San Roman, Daniel Fanelli and Vincent Caruso.
CGHS junior Courtney Buckworth has also been accepted into the All State Women's Chorus and will perform in February 2012. Students accepted into All State Chorus must go through an audition process in April of scales, a memorized solo and tonal memory exercises.
Darrah Maffettone, a senior at CGHS has recently been accepted into the American Honors Performance Series Choir which will perform at Carnegie Hall in February 2012. The honor of participation in the Honors Choir and Honors Instrumental Ensembles is limited to select high school performers identified throughout North America. Selected student performers receive the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with and learn from renowned conductors as they prepare for and then perform at a truly world-class venue: Carnegie Hall. In a special performance, students perform for both New York concert-going patrons and specially-invited collegiate music program representatives.
Congratulations to the talented musicians of Cedar Grove High School!
