Cedar Grove Election 2016: Early Local Results Released

CEDAR GROVE, NJ — One of the most mud-splattered U.S. presidential elections in recent history officially left its mark in Cedar Grove for 2016 when voters weighed in Tuesday. But whose candidates will emerge victorious?

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. statewide on Tuesday. Check back to keep posted on local election day winners and losers. Patch will update this article when early results are released.

Aside from the presidential vote, residents were also asked to vote for the following local candidates on Tuesday:

Cedar Grove Town Council

Nine of 10 districts reported

• John E. Martinelli - 2,326 votes (46.95 %)
• Joseph Cicala - 2,618 votes (52.85 %)

Cedar Grove Board of Education

Nine of 10 districts reported

• David W. Schoner, Jr. - 2,844 votes (52.43 %)
• Vincent Vollero - 2,562 votes (47.23 %)

Several reported issues and delays were seen across New Jersey on Tuesday, including polling place lines that stretched blocks, a sign that appeared to tell voters that they needed ID to cast a ballot and malfunctioning voting machines.
