Cedar Grove Reorganization Meeting at Noon
Councilmen Tanella, O'Toole to be sworn in, Mayor, Deputy Mayor to be designated.
The Cedar Grove Council will select its leaders for the next year and swear in two councilmen at the township's annual reorganization meeting at Township Hall today at noon.
Councilmen Peter Tanella and Robert O'Toole, who both ran unopposed for four-year seats on the governing body last month, will take the oath of office for their new positions today.
Tanella, who returned to the council last October, temporarily replaced Councilman Patrick DeFrancisci following his resignation. Tanella ran for a full four-year term in May, and was the top vote-getter in the election. He has been sidelined since the election, since fellow Councilman E. Romeo Longo vied for and won DeFrancisci's unexpired term, which ends in 2013. Today, Tanella will rejoin his colleagues at the dais.

Also to be sworn in for a four year term is outgoing mayor Robert O'Toole, who has served as mayor of Cedar Grove for the past year. Though his replacement has not officially been named, a straw poll conducted by the council last month saw Deputy Mayor John Zunic float to the top as the most likely contender for the job.
In addition to the swearings, and the anointing of a new mayor and deputy mayor, the township will appoint members to the Planning Board, the Zoning Board of Adjustment, and the Emergency Management Council. Councilmembers will also be designated as liaisons to numerous township committees and organizations.
