Cedar Grove Steakhouse Catches Fire, Workers Put Out Flames: Cops

Cedar Grove authorities have conducted an investigation into the cause of the fire, which spread to the ivy on the outside of the building.

CEDAR GROVE, NJ — Employees at a Cedar Grove steakhouse managed to put out a fire before it damaged the building earlier this month, authorities say.

According to the Cedar Grove Police Department, firefighters and police responded to the Del Monico Steak and Beyond Restaurant on Pompton Avenue around noon on Jan. 11 after receiving a report of a fire on the exterior of the building.

Employees at the restaurant managed to extinguish the flames before they damaged the building. The business remained open after the fire, authorities said.

Cedar Grove police provided the following statement about the cause of the fire:

“An investigation revealed that an electrical circuit, overloaded with extension cords, started the fire which spread to decorative ivy attached to the exterior of the building.”
