Cedar Grove Teens Robbed Near St. Catherine School: Police

Cedar Grove police are searching for a trio of men who allegedly knocked three local teen girls to the ground and robbed them.

CEDAR GROVE, NJ — Cedar Grove police are searching for a trio of men who allegedly knocked three local teens to the ground and robbed them near St. Catherine of Siena School on Saturday night.

According to police, the Cedar Grove teens – all females between the ages of 15 and 16 – said that they were walking on East Bradford Avenue near St. Catherine of Siena School around 11:15 p.m. when three males between the ages of 17 and 20 ran up behind them.

The teens told officers that one of the men demanded that they hand over their wallets and phones, then another suspect knocked them to the ground and stole two of the girls’ Michael Kors purses.

Police said that the suspects were observed running east on East Bradford towards Yorkshire Drive after the alleged robbery. The incident was witnessed by a local resident on the street, who reportedly heard the girls screaming and saw the assault in progress.

Two of the victims sustained “scrapes and abrasions” in the alleged assault, but none of the victims needed to be taken to the hospital, police said.

On arrival, Cedar Grove officers located the victims and contacted their parents, then conducted a sweep of the area with no success, authorities said.

Verona and Little Falls police officers assisted with the search.

An investigation is ongoing. Any person that may have observed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the assault is asked to contact detectives at (973) 239-4100.
