Cedar Grove Woman Calls in False Kidnapping to 911

Police located the suspect using GPS technology.

Cedar Grove police arrested a local woman for allegedly making a false 911 call on Saturday.

Police reported that they received a call around 10:29 a.m. from a woman - later identified as 46-year-old Sandra Carlotti - who claimed that she was being held against her will in the attic of a township home.

Using Global Positioning System technology, police traced the call to the Meadowbrook Garden Apartments on Pompton Avenue.

After conducting a door-to-door search of the building, police located Carlotti in one of the apartments where she was temporarily residing.

After determining that Carlotti was alone and had falsely reported the emergency, police arrested her and transported her to police headquarters.

She was released pending a court date.
