Community Church awards scholarships
Community Church awards scholarships Winners are in junior year

The United Church of Christ (UCC), of which Community Church in Cedar Grove is a member congregation, has from the time of reconstruction in the mid-1800s, supported colleges dedicated to educating all youth.
Considering this historical background, a scholarship program was begun at Community Church. In the beginning organizations within the church raised money to fund the scholarship. Gifts given in memory of family and friends added to the fund. About 20 years ago, after the death of church member Henry L. Stoeckert, it was decided to name the award after him. The scholarship is available to active church members who are entering their junior year in college.
This year two students were awarded scholarship at the church service on Sunday, June 12. They are Zachary Weisel who is attending the University of Delaware majoring in Finance and Accounting with a Political Science Minor, and Alissa Lyons who is attending Westchester University with a dual major in Elementary Education and Special Education.
Community Church of Cedar Grove, United Church of Christ, which is located at 65 Bowden Road, is handicapped accessible and open to all. For further information call the church office, (973) 239-3875.
