Floyd Hall Arena has Impact on International Skate Scene
Arena at Montclair State University hosted a contingent of Brazilian skaters to foster international competition and collaboration
Floyd Hall Ice Skating Arena in Little Falls, NJ, recently hosted two dozen male and female figure skaters from Brazil, age 10-40, who worked on all different levels of figure skating as part of an effort to expand the Ice Skating Institute’s presence in the Brazilian culture. Kevin McCormak, Vice President of Arena Operations, and Kristen Fraser, the skating director at Floyd Hall Arena, coordinated the program in an effort to make an impact on international competitive skating. This follows a visit earlier this year by a contingent of Brazilian coaches, who visited the arena for the purpose of certification and training.
“The week was heart-warming in a cold environment, and the warmth and support of the Brazilian culture was evident in their team spirit,” said Fraser. “We hope that this type of approach will have a positive influence on our already close-knit skating community.”
