Gov. Christie Signs State of Emergency Ahead of Irene
Emergency officials urge residents to monitor storm closely.

Heavy rains might be the least of New Jersey's worry this weekend as Hurricane Irene heads our way.
"The current tracking for the storm is not positive for our state," said Gov. Chris Christie after he declared a state of emergency during an afternoon press conference Thursday. He said the storm "wobbled westward."

He added that New Jersey will be in the "thick of it" beginning Saturday evening.
He urged folks in shore towns to voluntarily evacuate today and tomorrow but said evacuation was not yet mandatory.
