CEDAR GROVE, NJ — A surveillance video helped Cedar Grove police to apprehend a local man who allegedly burglarized Lombardi’s Bar and Restaurant last week, authorities say.

According to the Cedar Grove Police Department, officers arrived at the Pompton Avenue bar around 12:31 a.m. on April 13 after receiving a report about a burglary in progress.

Police said that the bar’s owner was tipped off about the burglary when he received an alert on his phone from a recently installed security system. Accessing the system via his smartphone, the owner saw that there was an unknown person on the premises opening a cash register behind the bar.
