Man Allegedly Spits At Cedar Grove Cop After DWI Arrest: Police

Cedar Grove police say the Essex County man allegedly spat at a one cop and pushed another after being arrested for DWI.

Cedar Grove, NJ – Cedar Grove police charged an Essex County man with assaulting an officer and DWI last week after he allegedly spat at a one cop and pushed another.

According to the Cedar Grove Police Department, an officer allegedly witnessed Leslie M. Moore, 21, of West Orange, speeding and operating his vehicle in an “erratic manner” around 12:43 a.m. on April 16.

After conducting a traffic stop, the officer allegedly noticed the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Moore’s breath along with signs of impairment.

After administering a series of field sobriety tests, the officer arrested Moore and charged him with DWI.

Moore was also found in possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police stated.

Police allege that Moore also became “extremely unruly” while being processed at headquarters, spitting at one officer and pushing another in the chest with both hands.

He was additionally charged with throwing bodily fluids at an officer and aggravated assault on an officer.

Moore was processed on all charges and released pending a Superior Court arraignment in Newark on April 27.
