Man Beaten, Robbed At Essex County Wendy’s; Suspect At-Large (PHOTO)

Police have arrested two men, but one suspect remains at-large. The target was a pair of $500 sneakers, authorities say.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Police have arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery that recently took place in an Essex County Wendy’s parking lot, but a third suspect remains at large, authorities announced Monday.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers received a report at 4:13 p.m. that a robbery was taking place in the parking lot of the Wendy’s restaurant on Bloomfield Avenue. Witnesses on the scene told officers that they saw three men accost a 41-year-old male victim and steal his sneakers, then punch and kick him while he was lying on the ground.

The victim sustained cuts and facial bruising during the attack, police said.

Authorities said that the sneakers were valued at $500.

Witnesses provided police descriptions of the suspects, and a short time later, officers located two men who allegedly fit the descriptions walking in the area of Bloomfield and Watsessing avenues, authorities said.

The two men – later identified as Ahmari Gilmore, 21, and Bobby Reed, 23, both of Newark - were found in possession of one of the victim’s hat and sneakers, police stated.

Bloomfield police charged Gilmore and Reed with robbery and conspiracy.
