Multiple Car Thefts Reported In Cedar Grove

Several Cedar Grove residents were hit during a series of car thefts that took place on Saturday and Sunday.

Police said that they received four separate reports of parked vehicles being entered on Lakewood Avenue, The Fairway and Woodlawn Terrace.

Some of the thefts occurred overnight Friday into Saturday, and some occurred Saturday into Sunday, police stated.

Stolen items included an iPad, two laptop computers and an assortment of DVDs.

One of the victims reported that after the thefts took place, a tracking device on their stolen iPad gave a location of Springfield Avenue in Newark.

Cedar Grove police are conducting an ongoing investigation.

Police reminded residents to “lock and alarm their vehicles when unattended, secure all keys and key fobs and never leave valuables visible in the passenger compartment.”
