Multiple Verona Home, Business Burglaries Reported: Police
Verona Police: Incidents took place on Pompton Avenue, Lakeside Avenue, Summit Road, Mt. Prospect Avenue.

VERONA, NJ — Several Verona homeowners and business owners reported burglaries and attempted burglaries last month, authorities say.
According to the Verona Police Department, residents and business owners recently reported the following incidents:
- Nov. 12 – A Verona officer took a report of a burglary at a Pompton Avenue business. A customer of the business reported that he secured his personal belongings inside of a locker and locked it with a padlock. Prior to leaving the business he retrieved his belongings from the locker. After arriving home, he discovered that there was money missing from his wallet. An employee of the business reported that she had been advised that there was a male tampering with locks in the locker room during the time this incident took place. The officer observed pry marks on the lock and the locker.
- Nov. 12 – A Verona officer took a report of a burglary on Lakeside Avenue. The victim reported that his laptop computer was stolen as well as an unknown amount of cash. The detective bureau was notified and is investigating.
- Nov. 18 – A Verona officer took a report of an attempted burglary from a Summit Road resident. The resident reported his dog began barking continuously and when he let the dog out into the back yard he observed a black male standing near the gate on the side of his house. When the resident asked the male what he was doing the male stated he was just cutting through. The resident checked his video surveillance tape and observed that the male had approached the back door of his house. A further check of the area for the suspicious male was negative.
- Nov. 18 – A Verona officer took a report of an attempted burglary to a residence on Mt. Prospect Avenue. The resident reported that an unknown person had opened an unlocked sliding door and an unlocked kitchen door. The resident discovered the open doors when his dog began barking in an unusual manner. The resident checked his vehicle and noticed that it had been entered. Nothing appears to be missing from the residence or vehicle at this time.
- Nov. 21 – A Verona officer took a report of a burglary at a Bloomfield Avenue business. The store manager reported when he arrived at the store he discovered the store burglarized and that the window on the east side of the building had been smashed out. Keys to the cash register and a cash box were reported missing from the store. The detective bureau is investigating.
