NEW Verona Competitive Cheerleading Team will begin competition this Winter.
NEW ‘Verona Competitive Cheerleading’ Program Set to Compete this Winter
When faced with the possibility of losing their competitive cheerleading team, a group of Verona moms’ began meeting last spring to re-conceptualize the program. The once strong and thriving program, dwindled to five cheerleaders. Rather than lose this long-standing tradition in Verona, collectively this group set out to re-vamp the concept and are now 32 cheerleaders strong and growing! “We’ve worked hard to ensure that our girls receive a positive, well-rounded experience,” said Karen Jandoli , one of the group’s co-founders.
The girls will receive choreography training from two Montclair State University cheerleaders. “These young women are competitive cheerleaders succeeding at a high level of competition and will bring a new dimension to the program,” said Lisa Gallagher, another group co-founder. “We are excited that our girls will be exposed to this kind of talent!” Head coach, Allison Evans, a life-long Verona resident, and a past college cheerleader as well, brings over fifteen years of experience to the program. “Her organization and enthusiasm are just what the girls need,” said Jandoli. Although registration is currently closed for this season, if you are interested in learning more about the program or wish to participate next year, please email CheerVerona@ gmail.com. The girls have their first competition on January 8th at Woodbridge High School and look forward to the upcoming season. We wish the girls all the best!
