
The Junior Woman’s Club of Verona is gearing up to host its annual Spelling Bee for fourth and fifth grade students who are enrolled in Verona schools or are residents of Verona.
The Spelling Bee will take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, in the H.B. Whitehorne Middle School auditorium. The snow date is Saturday, Feb. 4.
Fourth and fifth grade students will compete together during the Spelling Bee. The top three students will go on to represent Verona at a Regional Spelling Bee.
Last year, F.N. Brown Fourth Grader Lauren Brown when she correctly spelled the word "forth".
Anyone wishing to participate must fill out a registration form, which is being distributed in the schools and is also available at veronajuniors.org, and return it to his or her teacher by Dec. 21. No late entries will be accepted.
Rules and practice word lists will be distributed to registrants when they return to school after the winter recess. Please note that the practice lists may not include all words that will be used in the competition.
