Support Worthy Causes in Town this Weekend

Cedar Grove and Verona are full of exciting fundraisers and events this weekend!  Shop the Mothers’ Market or the Town-Wide Garage Sale, eat fish & chips, or pancakes for a cause, while the Lorax is teaching kids at the Environmental Center about Arbor Day.  There is also a murder mystery in town!  Check out our Patch picks below, and feel free to add your own suggestions for weekend fun in the Comments section.

Where/When:   10 Fairview Ave, Verona; Friday 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Why Go?  Delicious food will be provided by ARGYLE Restaurant. Bring friends, bring neighbors, bring family!  Eat in or take out!

Pricing: Either half ($10) or whole ($15) dinners can be purchased of either fish or chicken.  Advance tickets can be purchased from the church office - 973-239-3561.

 Why Go? This fundraiser will benefit the Valerie Fund.  New and gently used clothing, toys, and accessories for babies, young children, expecting and new moms and grandmothers will be offered.

Pricing: A $1.00 admission will be collected at the door to benefit The Valerie Fund.

Where/When: , 151 Fairview Ave, Verona; Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Why Go?  The Junior Class at Verona High School have coordinated this town-wide garage sale, where members of the community “bought” a listing for $25 on the map.  Organizers will direct shoppers to the homes/locations on the map.

Pricing: $25 for a listing.  Proceeds of the sale will help offset costs of the prom and senior banquet.

Where/When: Firehouse #2  209 Bloomfield Ave, Verona; Sunday 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Why Go? The menu will include all you can Eat or Drink: Pancakes, Sausage, Bacon, & Taylor Ham, Scrambled Eggs, Orange Juice, Coffee, Tea, & Hot Chocolate.

Pricing: $20 - Family   $5 - Individual   $4 - Seniors  Kids Under 6 Eat Free!!

Where/When: , 760 Pompton Ave, Cedar Grove; Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Why Go?   Immerse yourself in an evening of murder, mayhem, and mishegas!  Cocktails, dinner, silent auction and mystery are on the agenda.

Where/When: Essex County Environmental Center 621 Eagle Rock Ave, Roseland: Saturday 12:30 p.m. to 2:00p.m.

Why Go?  “UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”  Children in grades 1 though 5 are invited to a very green Arbor Day at the Environmental Center, where, after the Lorax story, they will explore the Truffula forest with the eyes of the Lorax, and receive a free seedling.
