Stolen Cars In Cedar Grove; 2 Of 3 Had Key Fobs Inside

Cedar Grove residents reported stolen vehicles on The Fairway, W. Lindsley Road and Eileen Drive.

CEDAR GROVE, NJ — Several Cedar Grove residents reported stolen vehicles and car break-ins last week, police said.

According to the Cedar Grove Police Department, the following incidents were recently reported in the township:

  • On July 3, at 12:55 p.m., a Cedar Grove officer took a report of a stolen vehicle from a driveway on The Fairway. A key fob was left in the vehicle allowing the actor to start the vehicle and drive it away. It was later recovered in Newark. Residents should not leave key fobs in vehicles parked in their driveways, police said.
  • On July 5, at 5:41 p.m., a Cedar Grove officer took a report of a stolen all-terrain vehicle from a driveway on West Lindsley Road. This incident is under investigation, police said.
  • On July 6, at 9:39 a.m., a Cedar Grove officer took a report of a burglary to two vehicles in a driveway on Eileen Drive. The vehicles had been left unlocked in the victim’s driveway. It was determined that the burglary occurred during the early morning hours. The incident is under investigation, police said.
  • On July 6, at 5:10 p.m., a Cedar Grove officer took a report of a stolen motor vehicle from an Eileen Drive address. Officers were able to review surveillance video from the residence that showed that the theft occurred at 2:04 a.m. The vehicle, which was later recovered, had been left parked in the driveway with the key fob inside, police said.
