The Week Ahead: What’s Happening in Verona, Cedar Grove

No council meetings but both boards of education meet this week.


Even though Verona and Cedar Grove's town councils are not meeting this week, that doesn't mean there won't be any meetings.

Both township's boards of Education have meetings Tuesday night with school budgets on the agenda.

First up, Cedar Grove’s Board of Education is meeting at 8 p.m. Monday. The meeting is slated for the media room at North End School, 122 Stevens Ave. The meeting was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but was changed. Check out the attached PDF for the meeting agenda.

Verona’s Board of Education meeting is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the library at Verona High School, 151 Fairview Ave. Check out the attached PDF for the agenda.

The Cedar Grove Historical Society is also meeting this week on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Cedar Grove Public Library.

For the non-meeting portion of the week, a forum, “Increasing Independence for Individuals with Autism”, led by Dr. Pete Gerhardt is scheduled at the Children’s Institute, 1 Sunset Ave., Verona, from 7-9 p.m. Monday. The free lecture is open to the public, but registration is required, so call (973) 509-3050 ext. 281 if you are interested in attending.

It's also Meatless Mondays in Ina’s Kitchen, 63 Park Ave. at 7 p.m. where guests can expect at least one Meatless Monday night 30-minute quick meal, one “Saturday night vegetarian” dinner, which means it took longer than 30 minutes to prepare and some real food cooked with love.

If you have children and want to bring them to out to socialize with other kids where moms and dads can talk, head over to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School, 26 Lakeside Ave., Verona, Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. for Time for Tots. Get your kids out of the house and running around while you can chat with other parents.

If you like jazz, take a trip Tuesday to the Cedar Grove Public Library at 6:30 p.m. for a concert dedicated to the women in jazz. Jane Stuart will host “Great Ladies of Jazz” performing music like Lena Horne, Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald.
