The Hillbilly boys basketball team won all three of its games this past week to improve its record to 8-3 overall. An overtime win against Glen Ridge combined with a 55-40 win over Belleville and a 37-35 squeaker against West Essex have Verona rolling. Alex Kaslander and Anthony Huber have combined for 77 points in the three wins.
Girls basketball: Verona earned its second win of the season, getting a two point win over Montclair Kimberley Academy on Tuesday. The victory was followed by a 38-33 loss to Caldwell on Friday, dropping the Hillbilly girls to 2-7. Julieanne Mascera scored 25 points in both games combined.

Wrestling: Wins over Millburn and Union coupled with losses to Belleville and Parsippany Hills kept the Verona wrestlers stuck at .500, with a 4-4 mark. Tom Cundari was very impressive for the Maroon and White, going 4-0 in the week with four pins.

The Panther boys basketball team finished the week with one win and one loss, bringing their record to 5-5 overall. On Tuesday the boys fell against West Essex, 62-59, but bounced back with a 21-20 win over Golda Och. Joe Bruder was the team's leading scorer with 22 points.
Girls basketball: Cedar Grove lost to Orange in overtime, 41-34, on Thursday in its only game of the week and fell to 5-3 overall.
Wrestling: A 58-12 win over Newark Academy improved the wrestling team's record to 4-1 overall.
