Trash Truck Dumps Burning Garbage In Cedar Grove: Police

What does burning garbage smell like? A sanitation worker found out the answer to that question during a run in Cedar Grove.

Cedar Grove, NJ – What does burning garbage smell like?

An employee of a garbage disposal company found out the answer to this question last week when his truck caught fire while he was driving on Pompton Avenue, according to authorities.

The Cedar Grove Police Department stated that the employee was traveling north on Pompton Avenue around 7:48 a.m. on March 10, when he observed smoke coming from the rear of his truck.

The employee immediately pulled off the road into a parking lot at 1425 Pompton Avenue and dumped the burning garbage from the truck into the lot, police said.

According to police, the Cedar Grove Fire Department arrived on the scene shortly afterwards and extinguished the flaming trash heap, but not before the truck sustained damage to its outside and the inside garbage container.

The lot was cleaned by garbage company personnel and no injuries were reported, police added.
