VERONA, NJ — Emergency responders in Verona recently certified 28 local high school students in CPR and defibrillator use, authorities said.

According to a Verona Police Department social media post from March 1:

“The Verona Police Department is happy to announce we have certified 28 Verona High School students in Adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). The week long class was conducted during the students’ lunch break which demonstrates their strong desire to acquire the life saving skills. During the week, instructors from Verona Police, Verona EMS and Montclair EMS worked with students delivering curriculum from the American Safety and Health Institute. The class was an overwhelming success because of support from the entire community including, the Verona Board of Education, Verona EMS, Montclair EMS, Verona High School SCA, Verona PBA 72, Borino’s Pizza, Frank Anthony’s, Eight Hills Caterers/Lakeside Deli, Pizza Terminal and Hot Bagels and More.”
