Verona Budget, Cedar Grove Council Meetings in Week Ahead

Online, in-person summer recreation program kicks off Monday morning.

After several weeks packed with budget meetings, the meeting schedule slows down a bit in Verona and Cedar Grove.

The Verona Township Council will meet on Monday, April 1, where the council is expected to introduce its $21 million budget. The council meets at 7 p.m. in council chambers at the Verona Civic Center. An agenda is attached.

The council began its budget hearings in late February and went over budget expenses for police, recreation, pool and anticipated revenue.

They next met in mid-March to continue the budget hearings with municipal court expenses, code enforcement, street and highway and buildings and grounds proposals.

During the most recent meeting, Verona Township Engineer Jim Helb presented the capital budget and Verona Information Technology and Office of Emergency Management Director Jeff Hayes presented expenses for the communications department.

The Cedar Grove Township Council will also meet on Monday, April 1, at 7 p.m. at town hall, 525 Pompton Ave.

The council will consider awarding a bid for furnishing and delivery of police vehicles and also consider resolutions concerning raffle licensing and parking permits. An agenda is attached.

Verona residents should keep in mind online and in-person registration begins Monday, April 1 for the summer recreation program. A special in-person registration for all programs will be held at the Verona Community Center on Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. After May 31, there will be a $30/$50 late fee for playground registrations and a $10 late fee for all other programs.
