Verona Car Crash, Trucker Allegedly Attacked With Golf Club: Police
Verona police arrested a motorist after he allegedly attacked a tractor trailer driver with a golf club following a car crash.
Verona, NJ – Verona police arrested a motorist after he allegedly attacked a tractor trailer driver with a golf club following a car crash in the township last week, authorities say.
According to the Verona Police Department, an officer responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on April 26. At the scene, the officer found a tractor trailer driver who told him that the other motorist involved in the crash had just left the area.
The trucker reportedly told police that the driver got out of his car after the crash and attacked him with a golf club. He was allegedly able to wrestle the club away from the motorist, who then got back in his car and left the area, police said.

After conducting a search, police located the car that was allegedly involved in the accident in West Caldwell.
Officers spoke to the car’s owner, John Stefanelli, then placed him under arrest and transported him to police headquarters.

Stefanelli posted bail and was released, police stated.
