VERONA, NJ — A speedy effort from Verona firefighters helped to contain a raging car fire at a Lakeview Place apartment building last weekend, authorities say.
The Verona Fire Department issued the following statement about the blaze:
On June 17, Verona Volunteer Fire Department units responded to a Lakeview Place apartment building on a report of a car fire in the parking lot. Upon arrival, first arriving units encountered a vehicle on fire up against the building with the engine compartment heavily involved. Engine 10, arriving as the first due engine, stretched two attack lines and quickly contained the fire while Truck 12's crew searched the exposure building for occupants and fire extension. Other units arrived and assisted crews on scene as necessary. The vehicle fire was quickly extinguished with only minor extension into an apartment. VFD crews operated on scene for about one hour before returning to service.”
