Verona Cop Uses Pepper Spray To Break Up Dog Fight: Authorities

A Verona police officer was forced to use pepper spray to separate two fighting dogs on South Prospect Street, authorities say.

VERONA, NJ — A Verona police officer was forced to use pepper spray to separate two fighting dogs last month on South Prospect Street, authorities say.

According to the Verona Police Department, an officer responded to a South Prospect Street home around 10:41 a.m. on April 24 after he received a report about two dogs fighting. On arrival, the officer managed to separate the two dogs using oleoresin capsicum spray.

Montclair animal control officers transported the injured animals to an emergency clinic in Fairfield, Verona police stated.

Verona police issued the owner of the animals a summons for not having a dog license, authorities said.
