Verona Looks To Fill Vacant Town Council Seat After Member Resigns
The town council will interview all applicants during a public council meeting on Monday, June 22.
VERONA, NJ — The Verona Town Council is looking to fill a vacant seat on the board after a councilwoman resigned last week.
The town council is accepting applications for the role until 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
The appointment will be temporary and will last only until November, when voters will choose someone for a full three-year term.

This move comes after Councilwoman Cynthia Holland resigned last Monday, effective immediately.
To be considered, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, be a registered Verona voter for at least one year and be at least 18.

Applications can be delivered to the town clerk’s office on the second floor of Town Hall, 600 Bloomfield Avenue.
Materials can also be emailed to Town Clerk Jennifer Kiernan at JKiernan@VeronaNJ.org.
The town council will interview all applicants during a public council meeting on Monday, June 22, beginning at 7 p.m.
Each candidate will be asked the same questions, one at a time.
The town council votes on resolutions and ordinances involving grants, vendor contracts, building repairs, infrastructure and utilities, budgeting and tax policy, and zoning and land use, among others.
