UPDATE: Construction 'Blasting' Near Verona Postponed For 9/11: Police

Blasting near Verona originally slated for Sept. 11 has been rescheduled for Sept. 12. It's expected to last several weeks, officials say.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ -- Update: North Caldwell and Verona police announced Monday that the blasting originally slated for Sept. 11 has been postponed to Tuesday, Sept. 12, "in remembrance of 9/11." Blasting on the Hilltop will begin on Sept. 12 and continue for several weeks, officials said. Our original article follows below.

If you hear loud noises that sound like "blasting" near the Verona border with North Caldwell on Monday, Sept. 11, don't panic, authorities say.

According to the North Caldwell Police Department, contractors will be blasting rock on the Hilltop Construction site. "Please be aware that this will result in loud noises throughout the day," police stated.

It's possible that the blasting noise may also be heard in the surrounding towns; the Verona Police Department also issued an advisory about the blasting on Sunday.
