Verona Neighbors Have Snow Disputes: Police

A heavy snowfall from Winter Storm Jonas led to several disputes between Verona neighbors, police say.

Verona, NJ – A heavy snowfall from Winter Storm Jonas led to several disputes between Verona neighbors, according to police.

The Verona Police Department reported that the following incidents took place in the township:

  • On Jan. 23, Officer Robert Maguire took a report of a neighbor dispute on Claremont Avenue. The resident reported that his next door neighbor was plowing the driveway and placing the snow into his yard. He was advised of complaint procedures.
  • On Jan. 24, Sgt. Robert Shafer took a report of harassment from a Bloomfield Avenue resident. She stated that when she arrived home the previous night she had to park in a non-resident spot in her lot due to the snow. She advised the landlord of this both verbally and via email. The resident stated that the landlord knocked on her door and advised her that the vehicle had been towed. She states that there have been several minor issues with the landlord since she has moved in. She was advised of complaint procedures.
  • On Jan. 24, Officer Justin Nielsen took a report of a neighbor dispute on Linden Avenue. The resident reported his neighbor was throwing snow onto his front lawn. Both residents gave conflicting information as to the location of the property line. Both parties were advised of complaint procedures.
  • On Jan. 25, Officer Brendan Huber took a report from a Claremont Avenue resident that the landscapers from a neighboring business had plowed snow into her driveway. The landscaper denied plowing the snow into the driveway but agreed to clean up one area of the driveway.
  • On Jan. 26, Officer Brendan Huber took a report of property damage form a Claremont Avenue resident.The resident reported that his fence was damaged from snow that was plowed onto his property. Value of the damage is unknown at this time.
